Illustration of Picasso by D.K. Pritchett

This illustration of Picasso is from the portfolio of D.K. Pritchett. It was drawn about 1998. The composition is similar to a colored-pencil drawing of a racehorse ("Sleeper") that she had previously done as a portfolio piece. It uses many of the same features, including the lamp overhead, transparent light and shadow, and elements of abstraction.

Above are two rough sketches and gestures, used in the planning of the composition for the final illustration of Picasso. These portfolio pieces are from 1998.
