Documentation of My Artwork
The years and sizes are as best as I can remember or have been able to document (including very early works, such as high school and college). I stopped putting dates on paintings about 1993 or so, because it had taken me so long to hash through a painting and scrape up enough for a frame, that the painting was out of date for an art show I wanted to enter. They required that a work be from the past year (or two). My most recent best, biggest paintings were a little older than that, yet seemed pretty recent to me. This listing could change as I add works, remember works, or find more documentation on existing works.

The First Few Collages:

My stamp collages were a mix of literary and light, whimsical, silly, humorous pieces. The stamp collages started out during summers between terms at college. They began as simple notes enclosed in letters, with one or two stamps glued onto a hand-drawn cartoon figure. Most of these probably went to Bill T. One more elaborate one, The Great American Wind-making Machine, went to Vee.

After Graduation: Years in LaGrange

From 1981 through about 1984 or 1985, I did postage-stamp collages ~ the most successful and well-known one being Otis Jones' World-Famous Stamp Burger. That one was accepted into the LaGrange National Exhibit. Later, I had prints made. The other big, detailed stamp collages (in a similar motif that could be considered part of a series with Otis Jones) was Stamp-Photos While-U-Wait: an old-fashioned photography studio with famous personages in line; with the irony being that they were from different eras and could not actually be in line together. These large ones began as decorations for a postage-stamp collection I had intended to complete. I ended up being more engaged in art making, more obsessed with creating with stamps than collecting them. I never finished the stamp album. This is why these first collages had holes punched in the margin for a three-ring binder.

Then, I did a series of literary stamp collages as a gift: The Rape of the Lock, Tam O'Shanter, A Modest Proposal, and Moll Flanders. They were about 3x4 inches and had a cut border (to look like a postage stamp). The larger center piece for these (but not the best collage) was Tom Jones. It had as much or more painting in it as stamp pieces. (Dr. Williams)

I did a few stamp collages on commission or as gifts. These included The Operation (Sandy); The Stamp Fish (Hargett); The Little Garden (Jo Bowie); Hansel and Gretel (Gayle); The Coiner (Penny Bowie); and The Dollmaker (Susan).
